Ayah! Bass Harbor, Maine

We made it.
It was a long drive but we got here. And was it worth the drive!

It was Ellie's first lengthy car ride. She had her ups and downs.... so did Mommy & Daddy. We stopped for lunch in Portsmouth. J took the wheel from there on and got us up here while Elle and I slept most of the way.

The house (otherwise known as Aisling Cottage) we are at is better than we could have expected. After we settled in with our luggage we walked down to the pier to have a nice dinner. It was nice to stretch our legs.. ahhh We ate at a nice seafood restaurant at their outside tables. It's a little chilly up here and since we are so close to the pier I decided to walk up to the house and put long sleeves on. By the time I got back my fired clams were there. We ate our dinners and watched the lobster boats troll in. Elle and J shared some chocolate cake. I however had my own chocolate cheesecake with kahlua. As we finished it started to rain a bit.

When we got back we had the best view of the harbor and the orange sun setting.

J is putting Elle to sleep and I'm sitting on the couch typign this up and debatign about starting a fire on the gas fireplace. I took a few pictures of the place and I'll be posting lots as the week goes on. If time allows I'll be updating the blog each night. Oh yea, the house has wireless. I just have to make sure J doesn't check her work e-mail too much.

What a great idea, blogging about your vacation. We're sure Ellie will love reading them when she's older! We look forward to further postings.
We also had lunch in Portsmouth yesterday - at Flatbread. Where did you eat???
Have a fantastic time.

Sounds like you guys are going to have a great time up there, nice and relaxing! Even though I don't like seafood, there is something so New England-y and fun about eating fried seafood along the water. Have a great vacay! Kat
